PBG and Hydrobudowa Polska enter the A1
Almost 1,5 billion PLN – such is the total net value of contracts to build the A1 motorway in the kujawsko-pomorskie province signed by the Polish and Irish consortiums with the participation of companies of the PBG group, including Hydrobudowa Polska.
Construction of the 64 km A1 motorway between Toruń and Stryków is about to commence. On the 17th of June the General Directorate of Domestic Roads and Motorways signed two contracts for the execution of neighboring sections from the Czerniewice intersection (near Toruń) to the Kowal intersection (near Włocławek). They will be constructed by Polish and Irish consortiums with the participation of Hydrobudowa Polska.
The abovementioned consortiums were created along with PBG – the strategic investor, Hydrobudowa Polska, Apriva – the company responsible for development of the road construction segment in the PBG group, as well as the head construction companies of Ireland: SRB Civil Engineering and John Sisk & Son.
One of the contracts concerns construction of the 34,5 km A1 motorway from Czerniewice to Brzezie, the net value of which is nearly 766 million PLN (a gross value of over 934 PLN). The second is related to construction of the 29,5 km section from Brzezie to Kowal worth nearly 703 million net PLN (857 gross PLN).
Participation of the PBG Capital Group in the consortiums equals 50%. The participation of Hydrobudowa Polska, on the other hand, will depend on the settlements of future bids in which the company takes part in. – Hydrobudowa Polska may be the executor of very significant parts of work on the A1, ranging from earthworks, drainage, canal and water works, to construction of a variety of engineering structures such as over-passes. Our indisputable advantage is that our company’s branch and equipment and transport base is located close to the construction area – in Włocławek. We will therefore not only take advantage of its proximity, but also of our excellent knowledge of local conditions – explains Jerzy Ciechanowski, Chariman of Hydrobudowa Polska. – It cannot be ruled out, however, that in the event of acquiring other large contracts for which we are making significant efforts, the involvement of our workforce in the construction of A1 will be appropriately lowered – he adds.
The A1 motorway from Toruń to Kowal will have two road ways with two lanes in each direction (with a target of three lanes) as well as emergency lanes. Within the signed contracts there will also be: 4 motorway intersections, 8 Rest Areas, 4 toll stations and about 60 other engineering structures.
The completion time of both contracts is established to be 20 months, not including winter periods (26 months including winter).
