Christmas topping on the stadium in Poznań
· Installation of the steel elements of the roof, the key stage of the Poznań stadium re construction, has ended.

Almost 3,7 thousand tons, this is the combined weight of the four huge-sized trusses – the main elements of the Municipal Stadium’s roof. Installation of those, which began in October and ended last week, was an extremely complicated and spectacular engineering event on the European scale. Syndicate, led by Hydrobudowa Polska, has completed the most the most difficult stage of the future Euro 2012 venue’s construction.
Having in mind the upcoming Christmas, the construction was topped out with an unusual tree. On the eastern truss, the highest part of which reaches 56 meters, a Christmas tree appeared. On Wednesday, December 16th, it illuminated in blue, the color of Lech Poznań. The lights on the 15-meter tall tree were turned on by the president of Poznań – Ryszard Grobelny.
The already mentioned four trusses, the largest of which has over 170 meters length, 18 meters width and 9 meters height; compose the core element of the Poznań Stadium’s roof. Soon other parts will be installed: the opening roof structure and the arched elements of the steel dome, over which the membrane will be pulled over.
At the same time the concrete, installation and finishing works will be conducted. The end of the roof structure construction will allow “closing” of the stadium, by building the corner stands, and of course speeding up the remaining works. This will make the finishing of the stadium possible in the previously set time - half of 2010.
Earlier, at the beginning of the spring round of the Polish top division, the players will be able to use the pitch again. That is possible, because the construction teams left the field just before the roof elements were finished. Thanks to the good weather, the construction company was able to recreate the grass turf, with overall surface area of 8 thousand square meters. Theoretically the grass can already be used for football.
The Deal concerning re construction of the Municipal Stadium in Poznań was signed in December 2008 by the syndicate led by Hydrobudowa Polska. The value of the deal is estimated to approximately 400 million PLN.
